At DTU, we are looking for a talented PhD candidate to contribute to our research project on building energy flexibility and control systems. The project aims to enhance the energy efficiency and flexibility of buildings by employing advanced data-driven energy management techniques.

In this project, you will be working closely with supervisors from Chalmers University of Technology (Chalmers) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This collaboration will provide you with opportunities to learn from experts in the field and contribute to cutting-edge research.
Job DescriptionThe primary objective of the project is to identify promising control strategies for application and upscaling in real-life building management settings. You will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced control techniques, such as model predictive control (MPC) and reinforcement learning (RL), to enhance building energy flexibility.
Your tasks will include:
- Developing and testing MPC and RL algorithms for building energy management
- Collaborating with industry partners to integrate the developed algorithms into their building management systems
- Analyzing the results of the implemented control strategies and identifying areas for improvement
To succeed in this project, you should have a strong background in building physics, HVAC systems, and advanced controls. Your skills and qualifications should include:
- Knowledge of building physics and HVAC systems
- Experience in advanced controls (e.g., MPC, RL)
- Programming knowledge (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB)
- Experience in built environment monitoring
