About the position
As Student Assistant in the MEAL team, you will support administrative, analytical and practical tasks that vary from week to week. In this role, you will collaborate closely with ICARS' grant managers, who oversee external grants and ensure that implementation aligns with donor expectations and internal policies. You will also help coordinate internal and external events linked to MEAL and grant management activities.
Your tasks will include:
Supporting monitoring of a growing portfolio of projects in LMICs.
Updating project overviews and supporting maintenance of ICARS' project portfolio and dashboards.
Developing and maintaining MEAL resources on the ICARS intranet.
Updating project progress in ICARS' project management software.
Assisting grant managers with administration of external grants, including document management, progress and financial tracking and compliance checks.
Helping ensure grant implementation aligns with donor requirements and ICARS' internal procedures.
Supporting the planning, logistics and administration of meetings, workshops and events.
Creating and editing presentations for internal and external use.
Carrying out ad hoc administrative and analytical tasks as required.
Your background and experience:
You are an active student at a Danish university, preferably studying Social Sciences, Economics, Global/International Health, or International Development/Relations, and ideally in your second year or higher.
You have an interest in, or experience with, MEAL functions, grant management or international project work.
Experience managing datasets and using analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) is an advantage.
Experience with project management software is an asset.
You work independently, are well-organised and have strong attention to detail.
You are able to multi-task and work to strict deadlines.
You thrive in a diverse, interdisciplinary team and communicate effectively with colleagues and partners from different professional and cultural backgrounds.
You have excellent written and spoken English proficiency.
Experience interacting with stakeholders from LMICs is an advantage.
Working at ICARS
We offer an exciting opportunity to join a new international organization. As our student assistant, you will gain a unique insight into an organization handling intervention and implementation research on a global level. You will be part of a growing team that is developing the scientific and organizational foundation of ICARS. Our team is composed of enthusiastic international pioneers that believe in ICARS' mission and is highly motivated to ensure its success.
We are currently based at Statens Serum Institut in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Terms of employment
The position is covered by the terms of the collective agreement between The Danish Finance Ministry and the Organisation for Salaried Employees HK/Stat (Organisationsaftale for kontorfunktionærer, laboranter og it-medarbejdere (HK)), according to chapter 6 in the agreement concerning hourly paid employees.
