Ceva is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Bacterial Vaccines Team Leader to build and lead the R&D engine for bacterial vaccines within the Aqua business.

Strategic & Scientific Leadership

  • Lead the design, development, and industrialization of innovative bacterial vaccines for aquaculture, leveraging both conventional and novel technologies for antigen production and formulation.
  • Build and manage a high-performing, multi-disciplinary R&D team (microbiologists, assay scientists, upstream/downstream specialists) as the pipeline develops.
  • Drive the scientific strategy from strain collection and molecular epidemiology through to process development, assay validation, and tech transfer to GMP manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with CEVA's aqua autogenous vaccines team to create synergistic value for the R&D pipeline and for customers.
  • Ensure Ceva's expertise in vaccine adjuvants and formulations is fully leveraged for Aqua, collaborating closely with the internal formulation team.

Project & Resource Management

  • Oversee all phases of bacterial vaccine development including strain selection, seed banking, media and assay development, process scale-up, , clinical studies and GMP transfer..
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to deliver the bacterial pipeline in the most effective manner.
  • Assess and secure necessary resources, including hiring and onboarding key roles (microbiologist, assay scientist, upstream/downstream specialists).
  • Ensure robust project planning, budgeting, and reporting in collaboration with the Project Coordinator and Aqua R&D Director.

Cross-functional & External Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Aqua Franchise Leader and Director of Aqua R&,D to ensure alignment on portfolio priorities and deliverables.
  • Engage with external partners for access to strains, technology transfer, and collaborative research.
  • Represent Ceva in industry forums and with regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders to support regulatory, clinical, and autogenous, commercial objectives.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion the adoption of new technologies and approaches to address evolving pathogen challenges and market needs.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and scientific advances to ensure Ceva's bacterial vaccine portfolio is aligned with existing and emerging customer needs.

Your profile :

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in a relevant scientific field, plus a PhD in microbiology or biotechnology.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading teams engaged industrial bacterial vaccine development, with proven CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing & Controls) expertise.
  • Demonstrated successful delivery of vaccine projects from proof of concept to pivotal stage.
  • Prior knowledge of bacterial pathogens relevant to aquaculture is desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience with process development and scale up with a GMP-aware mindset is essential.
  • Familiarity with the global salmon aquaculture industry and regulatory environment is advantageous.
