The role holder is accountable for creating and implementing the Corporate Affairs strategy for Sandoz across internal / external communications, public / government affairs and third-party advocacy. The majority of time in role will spent in public affairs and a minority in communications. The role reports to the Head of Corporate Affairs for the Northern Cluster and is part of the Nordics leadership team, led by the Nordics Country Head.

Sandoz is most successful when it shapes markets to deliver its priorities in the short and medium term. The Head of Corporate Affairs is pivotal to this goal in the Nordics.

Your Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Create a vision for Corporate Affairs and a strategy that unifies and expands on current programmes to deliver comprehensively across European and Nordic country aims
  • Use your deep expertise of pharmaceutical public affairs to support and add value to the work of local responsibles for public affairs and trade bodies, identifying additional opportunities. Support the Country Head in their external engagement
  • Re-define and deliver internal communications to inform and engage associates and help them to navigate change and deliver company priorities, supporting the leadership team
  • Strengthen our capability in external communications with media and social media including preparing for and responding to issues, working with Nordic and above-country colleagues
  • Orchestrate local activity and ensure it is highly visible in above-country forums
  • Input into the Nordics country strategy and participate in the work of the leadership team
  • Offer counsel to Nordics leadership and above-country Corporate Affairs colleagues
  • Champion the Sandoz Purpose

Essential Requirements
What you'll bring to the role:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience including significant time in pharmaceuticals
  • Being strategic and agile so able to identify and attend to changing priorities in a matrixed organisation
  • Being purpose driven while commercially savvy and pragmatic
  • Demonstrable success in developing and implementing public affairs and communications strategies
  • Interpersonal skills needed to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Curiosity and for the business and enthusiasm for all corporate affairs sub-disciplines
  • Knowledge of the media, politics, public policy, and the diverse Nordic health systems
  • Contacts among the media, politicians, health officials and patient groups
  • University degree. Second degree preferred
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Any Nordic language at native level
