København, Denmark the LEGO Group Full time

We are searching for a high-reaching Lead FinOps engineer to join our engineering team maturing the FinOps Capability across The LEGO group. Our products help LEGO engineers optimize their cloud footprint from invent to operations and help management make data-driven decisions regarding budgets and contracts. With the growth of Cloud, on-prem and other scopes, we are looking into automating, scaling and enabling through GenAI.

Core Responsibilities

Our Cloud FinOps function focuses primarily on bringing cost transparency and FinOps standard methodologies to other teams. The Lead Engineer will be interacting extensively with other product teams and will guide the team by:

  • Provide technical direction for the FinOps team, composed of TechOps and Engineer resources, maintaining engineering excellence.
  • Own and build technical product roadmap and objectives, reporting on quarterly key results.
  • Lead budgets associated with cloud FinOps activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effectiveness, and advice on contracts.
  • Represent the Cloud FinOps team to both internal developer communities, as well as at external events (such as hosting workshops, Hackathons) and maintain relationships with Cloud Providers.
  • Foster innovation and encourage continuous learning within the team through coaching and mentoring, to help build the next generation of strong senior engineers.
Play your part in our team succeeding

The FinOps team is a core team for The LEGO Group, providing foundational capabilities for the entire organization.

We are closing the gap between engineering and finance, in a world where cost is consumption-based and ownership has shifted left to the engineers that spin up resources and make architectural choices. Our job is to provide a capability that can scale across many clouds and scopes without necessarily needing to grow the team. We automate every repetitive task, bring the data where it needs to be used, and strive to use agents to automatically generate the code in the product team's repository to reduce their cognitive load an operational burden. We also promote the FinOps culture as part of the DevOps practices and work very close to engineering teams to make it a reality.

We are a very international team; our work language is English, and we use Agile methodologies in our work.

The team is sitting in our temporary LEGO Hub in Copenhagen, soon moving to our official Hub at "Postbyen" and at the LEGO Campus in Billund. The work environment is exciting, inspiring, and flexible - and we like to have fun along the way

Do you have what it takes?

We are looking for candidates who are experienced in AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure architectural composing and cost optimization. With some years working experience in cloud infrastructure – and good partner collaboration skills.

The preferred candidate comes with experience with ETL pipeline development & maintenance for substantial data sets. Development of self-service API's using Python/spark for automation or orchestration. Also, we would like candidates to have familiarity with cloud cost reporting tools (e.g., Apptio, AWS/Azure Cost Explorer) and Cost Usage Report files. Preferably also knowledge of AWS China and cross-border cost reporting.

To succeed in this role, you ideally already have some of the following:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering.
  • FinOps practitioner certification (at least introduction to FinOps LFS175x).
  • AWS cloud practitioner and/or Azure fundamentals certifications
  • Background in Cloud, Data engineering or SRE engineering.
  • Databricks and PowerBI experience.
