Bring your experience and transform the future of renewable energyVestas Technology & Operations > Research & Development (R&D) > Nacelles R&D > Powertrain Module > Powertrain Technical Management Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within VTO, you'll find our department, Powertrain Technical Management, as part of Powertrain Module. The Powertrain Module is responsible for developing complete powertrain solutions for both onshore and offshore applications. Key design elements include the main bearing arrangement, gearbox, and generator, along with supporting auxiliary components. The team focuses on delivering optimized solutions that consider the full value chain, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and innovation. Powertrain Technical Management is a cross-functional sub-department within the Powertrain Module, responsible for ensuring final approval of module requirements, design solutions, technical quality, and risk management across Powertrain sub-modules. The team leads feasibility studies and defines the initial scope of Powertrain projects while ensuring alignment across functions and the entire value chain. Additionally, it facilitates the development of next-generation powertrain technologies, promoting innovation and continuous improvement. Guided by Vestas' core values—Accountability, Collaboration, Simplicity, and Passion, the team upholds a sound engineering culture that aims for effective solutions.Responsibilities In this role, you will report directly to the Powertrain Module Design Owner and collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Senior Function Leads, and Sub-Module Technical Leads. Your primary task will be to provide technical project leadership across all project stages, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, time, and cost requirements. Key responsibilities include: Deliver projects in compliance with Safety, Quality, Time, and Cost requirements Ensure optimal technical solutions across all modules and sub-modules Translate product requirements into actionable tasks for Powertrain sub-modules Guide and coach the project team, aligning design, development, and timelines with experts Identify and mitigate technical risks in collaboration with Technical Leads and Project Managers Evaluate scope changes for technical risk, competency gaps, and impact on targets Conduct technical reviews, approve deliverables, and ensure process adherence and continuous improvement Qualifications To excel in this role, you should have: Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field 6+ years of experience in product development, notably in drive technology Ability to manage complex issues in global project organizations Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required Familiarity with Six Sigma and system engineering tools, such as requirement management and DFMEA Experience working in global matrix organizations or within the wind industry is beneficial Good understanding of product cost structures, planning, and value chain processes Competencies We see the ideal candidate possessing the following personality and competencies: Team-centric professional with the ability to handle and guide a technical team Extensive experience in some area related to the wind industry or drive technologies Solid technical understanding with the ability to apply knowledge suitably Committed, resilient, and task-oriented, with a strong sense of responsibility Ability to plan and delegate tasks efficiently while managing, guiding, and motivating team members Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across the organization What we offer We offer you the opportunity to be involved in sustainable energy solutions, where your work will directly contribute to supporting the green agenda through innovative solutions.
