Job description
The tasks involve maintaining the advanced instruments within the core facility and train and support new users. The job will also include testing and implementing new biophysical methods and developing procedures and protocols. The candidate will also conduct biophysical experiments for external partners using the equipment in the facility.The candidate will be embedded in the research group of Associate Professor Magnus Kjærgaard to support a broad range of protein-oriented research projects.
Your profile
The candidate is expected to have hands-on experience with some of the following experiments: Ligand binding kinetics using surface plasmon resonance, grating coupled interferometry or bio-layer interferometry. Measurement of affinity by isothermal titration calorimetry or microscale thermophoresis. Measurement of protein stability by nanoscale differential scanning fluorimetry. Measurement of biomolecular assemblies by mass photometry. Biochemical assays in optical multimode plate readers. Recombinant protein expression and purification.
Additionally, the candidate is expected to be a good team player and to communicate clearly in written and spoken English.

The academic employee will be affiliated to the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics.
The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University and comprises research within the areas of Plant Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, RNA Biology and Innovation, Protein Science, Cellular Health, Intervention and Nutrition. There are currently 75 full time scientific staff and 95 PhD students. The department is responsible for two educations: Molecular Biology and Molecular Medicine with a yearly uptake of 160 students in total.
