Compliance Advisory Lead - Renewables Trading

Centrica Energy, the trading division of Centrica, specializes in trading LNG, gas, power, and energy attributes. We facilitate connections between independent producers, suppliers, and corporate off-takers in wholesale energy markets to meet evolving customer needs.

As we prepare for further expansion, we are seeking a Compliance Advisory Lead for Renewable Energy Trading & Optimization to join our Market Advisory team. This team, a crucial part of Centrica Energy's wider Ethics & Compliance (E&C) function, ensures effective risk management related to market abuse, financial market regulations, and compliance with market operator and exchange rules.

The role involves managing the compliance program, providing intricate compliance advice to the Renewable Energy Trading and Optimization business. A solid understanding of areas such as REMIT, MAR, market operators, and exchange/trading venue rules is vital due to the high regulatory scrutiny this business faces.

Role Overview:

  • Oversee the compliance program for Renewable Energy Trading & Optimization
  • Provide compliance guidance on Centrica Energy policies, regulations, and procedures
  • Handle communication compliance, transaction analysis, and reporting
  • Conduct scenario-based compliance training
  • Collaborate with the Surveillance and Monitoring team on risk assessments
  • Implement regulatory changes in coordination with Centrica's Market Regulatory team

Qualifications:

  • Experience in compliance within a wholesale trading environment
  • Understanding of global commodities market regulations, particularly European Power & Gas
  • Experience in liaising with regulators and exchange/trading venues
  • Demonstrated ability in leading through others
