Join DTU Physics as a Postdoc in Continuous Variable Photonic Quantum Computing. Contribute to groundbreaking research, developing scalable quantum processors towards the demonstration of a quantum advantage. Apply now to shape the future of quantum computing
DTU Physics is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoc to join our cutting-edge research team in Continuous Variable Photonic Quantum Computing. This position is part of the PhotoQ consortium, which focuses on developing a quantum computing platform, along with photonic quantum algorithms and architectures. Our platform aims to demonstrate a true quantum algorithmic advantage and will eventually be accessible online.

Our goal is to create a scalable quantum computer using measurement-induced processing of continuous variable cluster states by developing quantum processors that utilize temporal multiplexing of squeezed states. This approach integrates free-space optics, low-loss fiber optical delay lines, and high-efficiency detection to build a measurement-based quantum computing machine capable of performing both non-universal quantum sampling algorithms and fully universal algorithms.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your key responsibilities are to:

  • Realizing a sub-universal continuous variable quantum computing platform by creating a large temporally encoded cluster state using squeezed light.
  • Inducing transformations on the resource state through homodyne measurements.
  • Demonstrating sub-universal quantum sampling algorithms towards the demonstration of a quantum advantage.
  • Develop, operate and maintain an experimental setup for photonic quantum computing.
  • Acquire, analyze and interpret experimental data,
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication, and present research findings at conferences and workshops.
  • Collaborate with researchers from other institutions to advance the overall project goals.

We are looking for an exceptional physicist with extraordinary talents and outstanding drive. In particular, we are looking for academic excellence and/or demonstrated scientific achievements. We also expect you to have a strong ability to conceive new ideas, construct high-performance experimental setups, take initiative and leadership, work together in a diverse team, and secure progress of the experimental work on a daily basis. Essential is your internal drive to achieve significant and ground-breaking results.

We expect you to:

  • be motivated and dedicated to do research of the highest standards,
  • enjoy working in a team, be excited about sharing your expertise with other group members and the wider community, and be open to new ideas,
  • share our values of scientific curiosity, creativity, and integrity,
  • be excited about large challenges and enjoy solving them,
  • have an extraordinary drive towards achieving groundbreaking results,
  • love physics discussions and participating in thoughtful conversations,
  • make things work

Further requirements and qualifications
We require demonstrated expertise in experimental quantum optics and a Ph.D. in physics, quantum information science, or a related field. Expertise in some of the following areas is expected:

  • Expertise in quantum information processing, quantum optics, or related fields.
  • Strong experimental skills and solid theoretical understanding of quantum information.
  • Experience in continuous variable quantum information processing and entanglement generation is preferred.
  • Experience in programming and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

We offer a stimulating research environment with excellent opportunities for professional growth and development. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art experimental facilities and resources to help them achieve their research goals.

We offer
DTU is a leading technical university globally recognized for the excellence of its research, education, innovation and scientific advice. We offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment. We strive for academic excellence in an environment characterized by collegial respect and academic freedom tempered by responsibility.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2 years.
