Senior Payroll Specialist

Twoday are looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our national finance team in our Copenhagen office.
Key Responsibilities of the role
- The primary responsibility is to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll across Denmark and other locations, in strict adherence to local compliance requirements. This includes optimizing payroll processes by identifying efficiencies, automation opportunities, and best practices to enhance accuracy and reduce manual workload.
- Ensure that all relevant employee data inputs are accurately registered and submitted in line with both monthly and yearly internal controls.
- Manage post-payroll activities, such as delivering finance files, generating reports, overseeing audit controls, and performing reconciliation.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in People & Culture to support both employee and manager payroll-related queries.
- Maintain ongoing communication with external payroll providers, pension providers, and tax authorities to guarantee compliance and accuracy.
- Lead payroll reconciliation and prepare for each payroll cycle, ensuring that all necessary pre- and post-payroll checks are thoroughly completed.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and internal policies while managing complex payroll issues.
- Contribute to payroll system and process upgrades, including testing, implementation, and improvement initiatives.
- Drive harmonization efforts across regions to align payroll practices, ensuring scalability and efficiency across the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience working in payroll within a complex, multinational organization.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance, particularly in Denmark, with experience in other European countries being a plus.
- Experience in optimizing payroll processes, introducing automation, and implementing payroll system enhancements.
- Knowledge of financial aspects related to payroll, including tax compliance, benefits administration, and accounting processes.
- Experience working with outsourced payroll providers and managing vendor relationships.
- Familiarity with HR operations and their intersection with payroll is an advantage.
- Proficiency in payroll and HR systems such as VismaLøn and VismaHR is a plus.

- Ability to navigate corporate structural challenges and drive process improvements.
- Fluent in Danish & English, both written and verbal communication.
