Are you Hobbii's new CTO?

We are looking for a visionary, business-driven, and action-oriented CTO to take Hobbii's unique e-commerce platform to the next level, enabling a community-based expansion and supporting the continued hyper growth of the business.

Hobbii is already Denmark's fastest-growing e-commerce success within yarn and handicrafts, not only selling yarn but also connecting knitters and crocheters worldwide. Approaching a revenue of 100 million Euro, being in more than 12 markets with the US and Germany as the biggest, they're just getting started – the realistic ambition involves fast scaling market expansion and revenue growth over the coming years.

Your role is instrumental in technology-enabling continued hyper growth.

As Hobbii's new CTO, you will be responsible for setting the technological direction and leading a team of approximately 40 tech professionals, ensuring both team spirit, technical progress, and a strong connection between business and technology.

Reporting to the CEO and being part of the management team, you will have overall responsibility for developing and implementing a technological platform that enables and supports the continued hyper growth. You will play a key role in balancing scalability, performance, and innovation while ensuring the platform's stability.

You will also play a pivotal role in stakeholder management - internally with C-level executives, marketing, sales, and operations, as well as externally with partners and vendors. You must be able to communicate complex technical issues in a business-friendly manner and build trust with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

First and foremost, to succeed, you need to be a curious and natural leader, who can set the business-technical direction, engaging and empowering your team to deliver state-of-the-art impact solutions.

Your responsibilities are in the intersection between business, tech, and leadership:

  • Tech team leadership & development - Foster an open and curious performance culture where innovation and execution go hand in hand.
  • Strategic technology direction - Define and implement a scalable architecture that supports business growth.
  • e-Programme management - Lead and optimize the company's e-commerce and community solutions, including configurations, integrations, performance, and vendor management.
  • Stakeholder management - Collaborate closely with the CEO, CCO, CFO, and other key stakeholders to align technology with business objectives.
  • Security & operations - Ensure stability, uptime, and a robust infrastructure while working with DevOps and cloud solutions.
  • Technological innovation - Keep the company ahead of the market by evaluating new technologies, AI, personalization, and data-driven optimization.

Your profile is probably shaped by experience with e-commerce, scale-up, and tech leadership:

  • Experience as a CTO or technical leader in an e-commerce or SaaS company focused on scalability.
  • Strong leadership experience, having built and developed teams in one or more growth companies.
  • Solid experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify), SaaS solutions, API integrations, and other relevant e-commerce and community-based technologies.
  • Understanding of architecture and system landscapes in a large-scale e-commerce platform.
  • Ability to balance technical debt with innovation – including a professional, yet pragmatic approach to development.
  • Sharp business acumen with the ability to connect technology with strategic goals.
  • Strong communication skills in English, capable of conveying technology opportunities and issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Location

We expect you to spend most of the time out of the office in Copenhagen, where the tech team is located. From there, you will be able to lead and engage with the team and the other stakeholders.
