The Cardiac Proteomics and Systems Biology Group at Department of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, is seeking to employ a Post Doctoral fellow. The successful candidate will investigate spatial- and cell type-resolved proteomes of heart samples across cardiac diseases as starting point for further investigations of cardiac disease mechanisms. The research fellow will focus on mass spectrometry based proteomics investigations of human heart samples in combination with experimental studies in iPSC derived cardiomyocytes.
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our team. Prior experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics is required.
Qualification Requirements
- PhD in a relevant field
- Ambitious, creative, independent and self-driven
- Hands-on skills and expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Experimental know-how of mass spectrometry-based proteomics (LC-MS/MS)
- Analytical know-how of mass spectrometry data analysis
- Experimental know-how of various types of sample preparations (such as proteomics, PTMomics, clinical proteomics, spatial- or single cell proteomics, secretomics, interactomics using high-resolution mass spectrometry).
- Experience in quantitative proteomics approaches
- Experience in cardiac biology is an advantage.
- Good communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Willingness to engage in teamwork
- At least one first author publication in a relevant field
The preferred applicant should have an excellent academic track record, solid research experience and be highly motivated to deploy diverse strategies to extract novel findings of importance to pathophysiology. Previous research experience in an ambitious research environment is required.
Duties
The fellow will be responsible for all experimental work concerning acquisition of spatial- and cell-type resolved proteomes from heart samples, evaluation and analysis of the acquired data, formulation of hypotheses based on the data, and testing of the data in hIPSC derived cardiomyocytes. The work will be performed in collaboration with current members of the Lundby group. The fellow will work independently and lead this part of the project, with the freedom to modify the original research plan as needed. Ongoing support will be available from the PI as well as Lundby group members.
Our group and environment
The candidate will be part of the Cardiac Proteomics and Systems Biology group led by Professor Lundby at the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The successful candidate will be working in a team of scientists across multiple scientific fields focused on improving our molecular understanding of cardiac pathophysiology. Our facilities include state-of-the-art laboratories and core facilities as well as modern office spaces. The position provides a unique opportunity to develop expertise in cutting edge quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics, data analysis of large datasets and integration of multi-omics datasets. Striving for academic excellence, collegial respect and freedom tempered by responsibility, we offer creative, friendly and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and strong scientific environment.
Salary and terms of employment
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation.
