Your new role As Scientific Medical Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing Novo Nordisk’s cardiometabolic strategies in International Operations (IO), covering Europe and Canada (EUCAN). You’ll operate at the scientific forefront, turning the latest research into meaningful medical advances. You’ll serve as a trusted scientific partner across Region EUCAN and shape how we engage with healthcare professionals and opinion leaders. / li>Implement the Region EUCAN cardiometabolic therapy area medical strategy ensuring that strategic initiatives are able to implement and scale in affiliates - Engage the cardiometabolic EUCAN medical teams and partner in EUCAN cross‑functional teams and act as a medical expert across Region EUCAN - Drive the EUCAN cardiometabolic medical affairs priorities and act as a primary representative of Region EUCAN in therapy‑area specific medical fora, ensuring Region EUCAN insights are captured - Foster strong relationships, drive engagement with key internal and external stakeholders, and build strong strategic partnerships with opinion leaders, subject matter experts, professional associations, and vendors/consultants - Act as subject matter expert within the cardiometabolic therapy area; proactively collect, disseminate, interpret, and share medical insights/new medical knowledge in relevant cardiometabolic fora Your new department You’ll join the EUCAN Cardiometabolic Medical team—a dynamic, mission‑driven team at Novo Nordisk. Reporting to the Head of Cardiometabolic Medical, Region EUCAN, you’ll be part of a global network of medical leaders shaping the future of care for people living with cardiometabolic diseases. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, you’ll work from our EUCAN Office, based in Ørestad—a hub for innovation, talent development, and cross‑regional collaboration. This role offers exceptional exposure to an international network that can accelerate your career. Your Skills & Qualifications We’re looking for a scientifically rigorous, strategically agile, and highly collaborative leader who thrives where medicine, science, and business impact intersect. - MD preferred, PhD or an advanced scientific degree with 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry—ideally in cardiometabolic diseases - Proven track record in Medical Affairs, including experience in pre‑launch planning, scientific communication, and stakeholder engagement - Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and influence without formal authority in a global matrix organisation - Exceptional scientific communication skills, analytical thinking, and presentation skills—able to distil complex data into clear, compelling narratives - A proactive, business‑oriented and solutions‑oriented mindset, and deep commitment to improving outcomes for people living with cardiometabolic diseases Working at Novo Nordisk Every day we seek the solutions that defeat serious chronic diseases.
