Copenhagen Business School invites applications for vacant Assistant Professor positions in the areas of the Department of Operations Management.
The Department of Operations Management is a broad business studies department that researches and teaches managerial, operational challenges of decision-making and economics.
The department has a strong commitment to detailed empirical analysis and strives to hit the right mix of classical research projects and collaborations with corporative and institutional partners.
The assistant professor must cover one or more of the five core research areas of the Department of Operations Management.
The five academic research areas are: Supply chain management (design and management of flows of goods, services, knowledge and information between firms); Performance management (design, use, and effects of financial and non-financial measures in strategy development and implementation); Innovation management (deployment of management tools and mechanisms to connect technology, organization and markets); Operations management (relation between production, organization, and strategy in manufacturing and service industries); Managerial economics (decision modelling around pricing, costing, production planning and forecasting).
It is the ambition of the Department to question and debate the boundaries of our many disciplines. This plurality allows for an unparalleled level of cross-disciplinary exchange of research ideas and in this interaction foster a strong, visionary intellectual environment.
Teaching responsibilities of the Department comprise teaching in undergraduate, graduate, masters, executive and PhD programmes in economics and business administration. Our mission is to deliver excellent research-led education to a world-wide audience at all levels, as well as to engage with business and society.
The assistant professorship is a fixed term position (4 years) with research and teaching obligations.
To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant(s) chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department. The successful applicant is obliged to participate in the assistant professor program at CBS on teaching principles and methods in order to fulfill the pedagogical requirements made at the end of the term of employment as assistant professor.
Responsibilities
- Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs, including Executive Education
- Individual and group based research meeting high international standards

- Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the department and to CBS-wide tasks
- Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’ stakeholders in particular
- Research, including responsibility for the academic development of the relevant discipline
- Responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching

The assistant professor is expected to contribute to the development and application of the research of the department’s research areas and to maintain and strengthen CBS’ international research position.
Qualification
The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. Emphasis is placed on the applicant’s research potential, which means that a researcher with a large research potential may be preferred to a researcher with a large research production.
The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Copenhagen Business School has a broad commitment to the excellence, distinctiveness and relevance of its teaching and research programmes. Candidates who wish to join us should demonstrate enthusiasm for working in an organisation of this type (highlighting, for example, relevant business, educational and dissemination activities).
