VP of Business Development

Opportunity Overview:

A groundbreaking innovative deep-tech-Biotechnology company is transforming the biomanufacturing industry. Leveraging patented cell reprogramming technology, their proprietary solution significantly enhances microbial productivity, delivering consistent, scalable outcomes for industries such as biochemicals, alternative proteins, and pharmaceuticals. Following a successful Series A funding round of €12 million from reputable investors, the company is preparing for substantial growth and now seeks an experienced and driven VP of Business Development to spearhead their commercial expansion.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a robust go-to-market strategy targeting key segments within the biomanufacturing industry.
  2. Partnership Development: Identify, initiate, and cultivate strategic relationships with industry leaders, biomanufacturers, and research institutions.
  3. Negotiation and Agreements: Oversee commercial negotiations, draft partnership agreements, and ensure collaborations align with strategic goals.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with R&D and technical teams to align technological capabilities with customer requirements.
  5. Market Analysis: Continuously analyze market dynamics, competitor activities, and regulatory environments to refine and enhance business development strategies.
  6. Industry Representation: Act as the company's representative at relevant conferences, industry events, and trade shows, positioning the organization as a thought leader.
  7. Revenue Generation: Identify and close new business opportunities and expand existing partnerships to achieve ambitious financial targets.
Qualifications & Experience:
  1. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related fields. MBA or additional business qualifications combined with scientific knowledge is highly desirable.
  2. Experience: Proven success in business development, sales, or strategic commercial roles within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or industrial biomanufacturing sectors.
  3. Technical Skills: In-depth understanding of microbial fermentation, bioengineering processes, and biomanufacturing technologies.
  4. Negotiation Expertise: Strong record of securing complex agreements through outstanding negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  5. Collaborative Mindset: Experienced in working effectively within multidisciplinary teams in dynamic, high-growth environments.
  6. Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex scientific and technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  7. Languages: Fluent in English; additional language skills beneficial.
