Be a part of developing the world's first explainable AI chip for edge applications

As a Digital Design Engineer focusing on physical implementation at eXistential AI, you will lead end-to-end digital backend flow for our neuromorphic chips. You'll be responsible for the entire flow of digital backend tasks, driving innovation in AI hardware from concept to silicon. This role challenges you to think beyond conventional computing paradigms and apply your expertise to novel architectures.

Responsibilities and tasks:

Design Framework Setup
  • Establish and optimize the toolchain for physical design of the digital core
  • Configure and maintain an efficient design flow tailored to neuromorphic architectures
Place and Route (PNR)
  • Perform place and route on synthesized netlists
  • Optimize floorplanning and routing for neuromorphic-specific components
Design Verification
  • Conduct Static Timing Analysis (STA) across various operating conditions
  • Execute physical verification, including Design Rule Checks (DRC), Layout vs. Schematic (LVS), and Electrical Rule Checks (ERC)
  • Ensure design integrity and performance in the context of neuromorphic computing
Design for Testability (DFT)
  • Implement DFT techniques suitable for neuromorphic circuits
  • Integrate scan chains and other testability structures
  • Develop test strategies specific to our architecture
Communication and Collaboration
  • Assist in sales, fundraising, and communication efforts with technical expertise
  • Collaborate with the rest of the team including AI team, analog design, and front-end designers to ensure cohesive design and integration, leading to successful tape-outs

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in digital backend design for advanced architectures
  • Expertise in optimizing toolchains and workflows for chip designs
  • Mastery of industry-standard EDA tools and relevant scripting languages
  • Experience in pushing performance boundaries in area, power, and speed
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication abilities
