Job description
When considering applications for the position, the main emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work on an international level within the area of interaction between the innate host response with chronic infectious bacterial biofilms. In addition, experience with effects of the innate immune response on the susceptibility of bacterial biofilm to antibiotics is appreciated as well as knowledge of how to sensitize bacterial biofilm. The applicant should have a wide experience both with human clinical research and experimental models within the field. Close collaboration with the University Hospital is required.
The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
- Research, including publication/academic dissemination
- Research-based teaching, including associated examination
- Presentation and guidance in online courses on biofilms
- Communication of research results to the public
- Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
- Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
- Academic assessments
Required qualifications
To be qualified for an associate professor position, you will be assessed according to these six overall criteria for recognising merit at the University of Copenhagen: Research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding, and leadership. Furthermore, each applicant will be required to document:
- A record of original scientific research at the highest international level, including considerable contribution to the development of the subject
- Research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways
- Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies
- Research-based teaching
In addition, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following skills and experience:
Essential experience and skills:
- You have a relevant PhD in biology or biochemistry
- You have recent updated qualifications for performing experimental studies in mice
- You have solid experience in examining the phagocytic components in innate immunology at international level
- You have advanced English skills written and spoken
The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
Terms of employment
The position is permanent and the average weekly working hours are 29.6 hours per week.
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
