Professor in Psychology of Entrepreneurship – DTU Entrepreneurship
2 weeks ago
DTU Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship is opening a position for a full professorship within psychology of entrepreneurship. The professor should have a deep engagement in excellent research and education.
Furthermore, the professor is expected to be both proactive and structured, and to have comprehensive knowledge of the role of cognition and emotion in the entrepreneurial process, as well as in team dynamics. The professorship is expected to play an equally active role in academia and on the practice scene.
Psychology plays a crucial role in entrepreneurship, offering significant benefits to all stages of the entrepreneurial journey. Psychology also plays a key role in building entrepreneurial communities (such as at universities), and in how such communities come to benefit society as a whole. For better education, integrating psychology into entrepreneurship programs enriches the curriculum – and provides more qualified entrepreneurial students. This professorship therefore seeks to strengthen the centre’s position as an international leader in entrepreneurship, both in the academic as well as in the practice arena, and DTU’s role overall as the university of innovation.
Responsibilities
We are looking for an excellent scholar to join and play a leading role in the Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship. As a qualified candidate, you are expected to have shown excellence in research, teaching, and service (within the university and to the international academic community). Examples of this comprise development of new entrepreneurship educational programs, dissemination and teaching at executive level, organizing international workshops or conferences. Ideally, you have demonstrated exceptional results related to the areas listed below:
- Psychology of Entrepreneurship
- Mental Health
- Nascent Entrepreneurship
- New Venture Teams
- Inclusive Entrepreneurship
You have a passion for education development within entrepreneurship and will closely collaborate with peers from the Centre of Technology Entrepreneurship, and other national and international research groups. You are expected to establish and strengthen collaboration with national and international groups working in the above areas. You are taking the lead in the joint efforts in actively seeking external funding from national, EU and international funding bodies in entrepreneurship and related areas.
You will be responsible for teaching and planning multiple courses, within technology entrepreneurship, including the MSc in Technology Entrepreneurship.
As a part of your key responsibilities, you will:
- Contribute to meaningful education for the Centre
- Publish impactful work in leading journals and conferences in the field
- Disseminate knowledge to a broader audience outside of academia (including executive MBA)
- Secure funding for your research area
- Teach, guide, and supervise BSc and MSc student projects, as well as supervise PhD students
- Contribute to existing courses in the MSc Technology Entrepreneurship study program and develop and contribute to executive teaching offers
- Active team player (together with members of other research groups in innovation and corporate entrepreneurship, technology entrepreneurship and design, economics of innovation and entrepreneurship and in sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation) in the continuous development and growth of the centre within education, research and outreach
Qualifications
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree as well as having academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an associate professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.
DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:
- Documented experience and quality of teaching and curriculum development
- Research impact and experience, funding track record and research vision
- International impact and experience
- Societal impact
- Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
- Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills
- Communication skills
For the specific position consideration will also be given to:
- an international network to strengthen national and international collaboration in the area of entrepreneurship
- a solid background in research methods and entrepreneurship theory
- a strong potential for interdisciplinary connections within the group, and the centre
- good organizational/leadership skills and desire and ability to cooperate in/lead interdisciplinary teams
- a good 'drive' with respect to initiating and executing development projects
- ability to develop and strengthen strong partnership internally at DTU (such as with other DTU departments and centres, specifically DTU Learn4Life, DTU Skylab, PreSeed Ventures, and DTU Science Park), as well as to external partners (including leading international scholars).
Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. We expect the Professor to start by 1 December 2024 or soon thereafter.
