Date: 11 May 2024

Company: Alstom

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

  Alstom ,

Is the global leader in smart and sustainable mobility

We are looking for a  Project Verification and Validation Engineer  to be based  in Copenhagen .

What will you do?

You will be a member of the V&V (Verification and Validation) team which defines the integration and validation test strategy and carries out the testing activities on a complex signalling project.

Denmark has set an ambitious goal to upgrade its entire mainline railway network with state-of-the-art ERTMS level 2 baseline 3 signalling technology. Alstom is helping to turn this ambition to reality and has started deploying the new signalling technology on the trackside infrastructure and onboard the train fleets. This technology is stable and secure, and it will drastically improve the passenger experience by reducing the number of delays and increasing transport capacity.

Your key responsibilities?

As a member of the onboard project Verification & Validation team you will:

  • Define and review the test procedures for the onboard ETCS sub-system,
  • Run tests, analyze the results and write test reports: factory integration, static commissioning onboard the trains, dynamic functional tests on test and open tracks,
  • Support the deployment and maintenance of the test bench and tools to carry out the tests,
  • Organize and perform troubleshooting in case of failure,
  • Formalize anomaly reports,
  • Define regression test strategies after anomaly correction in coordination with the back-office engineering team,
  • Provide support and technical expertise to the other teams,
  • Manage configuration and change management cycle related to V&V activities and documents (simulation configuration, anomaly tracking, site result reports etc.)
  • Represent Alstom in front of customers or partners to provide an overview of test progress, issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Travel occasionally to project sites during commissioning phases or individual activities

Working with Alstom  will give you a unique possibility  to gain in-depth knowledge of the technical aspect of our business. This is a company where you can make a career  and development opportunities  are part of our company culture.

Do you have what it takes?

  • You graduated with a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Good analytical skills and technical curiosity.
  • Good knowledge of system engineering.
  • Understanding and experience in processes for safety-critical systems is beneficial e.g. requirement handling, document handling and the generic application development process,
  • Rigorous, with a good capacity for analysis and synthesis.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good writing skills are required: clarity, structure, and concision.
  • Fluent in English: both written and spoken is essential to this position’s demands.
  • At least 2 years in relevant positions (systems/sub-systems integration, embedded equipment, electrotechnical product or software development/testing) in a highly complex and normative environment (pharma, railway signalling, aerospace, naval, defence, nuclear) would be a significant asset.
  • Design and data preparation processes understanding.
  • Engineering and systems background.
  • Knowledge of railway signalling and train onboard systems will be an advantage.
  • A systematic and organized way of working.
  • Open-minded.
  • Problem-setting and problem-solving.
  • Sense of urgency.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you

Important to note

As a global business, we’re an equal-opportunity employer that celebrates diversity across the 63 countries we operate in. We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace for everyone.
