Position Summary
Raw Power Games and the IT University of Copenhagen invite applications for an industrial postdoctoral researcher position focusing on the alignment and safety of small language models in digital games. This project aims to revolutionize non-playable character (NPC) interactions in gaming by developing AI-driven, context-sensitive, and safe dialogue systems.
Project Overview
The project, titled "Small Language Models Alignment and Safety," falls under the Digitisation, Technology, and Innovation focus area. It aims to create small, efficient language models that support secure and engaging conversations within digital games, addressing current challenges of resource constraints and context sensitivity in AI applications.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Development: Conduct cutting-edge research on training and deploying small language models for NPC dialogue systems.
Integration and Application: Collaborate with the engineering and data science teams at Raw Power Games to integrate research findings into the company's technological stack, ensuring practical applications in game development.
Dissemination: Present research findings at conferences and workshops, publish in high-impact journals, and contribute to local and international AI and gaming communities.
Key Objectives
1. Develop Small Language Models: Create and optimize small language models for real-time in-game dialogue.
2. Ensure Model Safety and Alignment: Implement and refine methods to ensure the safety and contextual alignment of the generated dialogues.
3. Innovate NPC Interactions: Enhance the dynamism and personalization of NPC interactions in games, aiming for a seamless and immersive player experience.
Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP): Demonstrated expertise in NLP, specifically in language model training and evaluation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, C#) and machine learning frameworks.
- Research and Publication Record: Strong publication record in relevant fields, with experience in collaborative, interdisciplinary research.
- Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
Research Environment
The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the brAIn lab at the IT University of Copenhagen, collaborating closely with Raw Power Games' sister team Raw Power Tools. This partnership offers a rich environment for innovation and application, with access to great facilities and a dynamic team of experts in AI, machine learning, and game development.
