Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark BØRNEfonden Full time

Do you envision yourself in an international setting, collaborating closely with colleagues hailing from diverse cultural backgrounds? Are you motivated for grants controlling projects and making a difference for the world's most vulnerable children and young people? If so, then you could be the perfect fit for our Grants team.
About the job
As our new Grants Controller, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of grants and projects. You will help to ensure that we are in full compliance with the requirements set by our donors. In recent years, PlanBørnefonden has been on a rapid digitalization journey. Therefore, it is important that you are excited to use digital tools. We are a team that is a good mix of employees with experience from the private sector and the NGO sector. The team is a part of the Program department, and as a Grants Controller you will have close cooperation with both our Programme Managers and MERL advisors.

The employment is a 3-year project employment.

Your tasks will among others include:

  • Financial follow-up of our projects and grants, including data quality - this is primarily done using the Power BI dashboards
  • Advise and guide the projects in relation to donor requirements and guidelines, as well as ensure that the projects are understood and the guidelines are respected
  • Reporting to our donors according to guidelines
  • Follow-up on any irregularities in audits of our projects in different countries and resolve them in cooperation with the country offices
  • Carry out financial monitoring of our projects in different countries – sometimes together with programme managers, where you are also expected to visit local partners
  • Participate in the potential applications of funds for new projects

About you
You have an analytical approach to challenging issues. You convey complexity in a simple and understandable way. You thrive with a wide range of business partners and can form good working relationships with colleagues from other disciplines and from other cultures. Your approach to problem solving is characterized by high professionalism and accuracy. You have experience of independently prioritizing your tasks and structuring your working day.

You do not need to have experience from the NGO sector - you can learn this from us.

Other things that we are looking for:

  • You have an interest and flair for the digital field - if you do not know our systems, we ensure a thorough onboarding - but it's important that digital tools have your interest and that you can easily adapt to them
  • You have a relevant higher education within economics
  • You speak and write English fluently, as it will be your primary working language
  • You can travel abroad 3-4 times a year (duration approx. 5-7 days) - the trips are planned so that they consider your private circumstances
  • If you speak French, it will be a plus due to our projects in West Africa (not a requirement)

Who we are
PlanBørnefonden is one of Denmark's largest privately funded child rights organisations. We are a part of Plan International and we operate in over 70 countries. We work to ensure the rights of children and young people in the most vulnerable and fragile areas of the world with a special focus on girls and young women, who are particularly affected by inequality and poverty. You will be part of a modern development organization with high professionalism.

The Grants team develops and runs our many programs in collaboration with local colleagues and partners in more than 15 countries, primarily in Africa. Our programs are funded by both private foundations and institutional funds, focusing on these three areas: 'Healthy, Safe & Playful Early Childhoods', 'Young People Driving Change', and 'Building Resilience & Responding to Emergencies'.

You will be part of a modern organisation with committed and professionally ambitious colleagues, and you will have the opportunity to create a network of international working relationships. Our office is located on Mimersgade in Copenhagen, where we collaborate across departments and get energy from being an organisation that embraces diversity - both professionally and socially. You will experience an informal atmosphere where words are shortly followed by action.
