Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified PhD student to join our research team at the KU-CENTER FOR SUNDHED OG SAMFUND. The successful candidate will work on a PhD project focused on climate change vulnerability and attribution, with a specific emphasis on global health and disaster risk management.

Project Overview

The PhD student will be part of a larger project funded by DANIDA, which aims to investigate the impact of climate change on human health and well-being in Kenya. The project will involve conducting fieldwork in Kenya, working closely with the University of Nairobi and the Kenyan Meteorological Department, and contributing to the development of climate-resilient societies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent research under the supervision of Associate Professor Emmanuel Raju
  • Complete PhD courses or equivalent education corresponding to approximately 30 ECTS points
  • Participate in active research environments, including a stay at another research team
  • Obtain experience with teaching or other types of dissemination related to the PhD project
  • Teach and disseminate knowledge
  • Write a PhD thesis on the grounds of the project
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in a relevant field, such as climate change, global health, disaster risk management, sociology, or political science. The candidate should have a keen interest in qualitative methods, global health, and disasters, as well as a basic understanding of climate attribution. Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English are essential.
