Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of mechanical systems for our data centre projects. As a key member of our team, you will oversee all stages of the design process, from concept to construction supervision and project handover.

Your primary responsibilities will include preparing, reviewing, and ensuring the quality of mechanical design deliverables, as well as acting as a key point of contact for data centre clients. You will also be responsible for presenting technical content clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you must stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in mechanical design for mission critical infrastructure. You will coordinate closely with internal teams, external consultants, authorities, and service providers to ensure seamless project execution.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will contribute to the broader project and client objectives by connecting engineering solutions to the bigger picture. This will involve providing timely feedback and recognition within the team, while mentoring and supervising junior engineers.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience designing mission critical mechanical systems—data centre experience is essential.
  • Proven ability to manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets, while effectively prioritizing tasks.
  • Knowledge of German industry codes and standards relevant to mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with cooling strategies, EEFG requirements, and PUE/WUE calculations.
  • Experience in Technical Due Diligence (TDD) projects and Single Point of Failure (SPOF) analysis.
  • Understanding of data centre Tier Levels (Uptime Institute, TÜV IT).
  • Proficiency in 3D BIM software, especially Revit MEP.
  • Fluency in English; German language proficiency is a strong asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with a passion for quality, sustainability, and innovation.
