Global Procurement in Vestas

Blades, Procurement Department

Vestas Global Procurement Organisation is responsible for the management and development of the global supplier base within the Blades product area. The Department is split into 3 commodities with different system and materials responsibilities, where Blades Structural Materials are one of 2 material areas, covering Carbon, Core Materials, and Chemicals. The procurement work within Vestas is managed through cross-functional teams in the context of Module and Category Management.

Responsibilities

  1. Global responsibility for the Carbon commodity in Vestas
  2. Lead, develop, and secure implementation of the global strategy for the Carbon commodity, in close collaboration with the cross-functional team as well as the regional sourcing responsible(s)
  3. Coordinate and promote the cross-functional commodity team meetings and performance
  4. Conduct and support Supplier Account Managers in supplier negotiations and contract implementation
  5. Responsible for selection, qualification, negotiation and contracting plus implementing projects with new, as well as existing suppliers in collaboration with the regional SR's
  6. Define and decide on next-generation materials to be used within the Carbon area

Qualifications

  1. A degree in either Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Engineering and holds a minimum of 5 years of work experience in Procurement knowledge
  2. Experience related to cross-functional collaboration (Category Management) is necessary
  3. Significant communication skills, including fluent English skills are required
  4. Knowledge related to Carbon Fiber or related industries and materials is welcomed
  5. Advanced skills in PPT, Excel & Word are necessary
  6. Desire and ability to supervise (projects, suppliers, stakeholders)
  7. A structured and fact-based approach to ensure that the strategy and initiatives are prioritized and implemented
  8. A mindset as a team member, with the ability to guide the team and secure joint team decisions and an open, constructive team dialogue
  9. A holistic and positive mindset: you are able to see the big picture from Vestas' product offerings towards customers and the ability to connect these to supplier offerings and how they can positively impact Vestas sales and cost-out programs
  10. Ability to work in an innovative and at times, unpredictable environment and solid analytical skills with a natural ability to determine the core of the problem to be solved
  11. A desire and wish to improve and change the status quo, and a solution-oriented mindset - as the key goal is to determine the solution, not the problem evaluating analytical inputs and translating them into a clear negotiation position and arguments
