Lead Architectural Expert

At BIG, we are looking for an experienced Senior Architect to join our team in Barcelona. With a focus on design development and delivery, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our built environment.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of architects, engineers, and urbanists who share your passion for innovative and sustainable design solutions. As a Senior Architect, you will be responsible for managing junior team members, drafting comprehensive drawing sets, generating detailed 3D models, and delivering projects that meet the highest standards of quality and excellence.
Responsibilities- Work closely with project managers and architects to develop and deliver high-quality design solutions;
- Assist in the management of junior team members, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure their success;
- Draft comprehensive drawing sets, including concept through construction documents;
- Generate detailed 3D models to support all phases of the design process;
- Tackle technical detailing and construction administration tasks, leveraging your creative problem-solving skills to resolve design issues effectively;
- Develop strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project outcomes;
- Possess a professional qualification as an architect or equivalent overseas qualification;
- Hold at least 10 years of experience in all phases of the design process, including conceptual, detail, and design development, construction documents, and construction administration with site supervision;
- Showcase significant contributions to well-documented and coordinated drawing sets;
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, fluent in English and Spanish, both spoken and written;
- Be proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite, Grasshopper, and V-Ray;
- Have a solid understanding of products, materials, zoning/building codes, and construction methods;
- Show strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and maintain attention to detail and accuracy;
- Embody a proactive, self-motivated attitude, with the ability to take initiative in response to direction from project managers, directors, and partners;
- Display a team-oriented mindset, flexibility, and openness to new ways of working and collaborating;
