Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet Full time

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated researcher to join our team at the Biotech Research and Innovation Center (BRIC) as a PhD fellow. This exciting opportunity is available in the field of brain tumor bioinformatics, focusing on understanding the role of the tumor microenvironment in brain tumor aggressiveness and therapy response.

Responsibilities and Expectations
  • You will be part of a multi-disciplinary research team working with patient tumor tissue, experimental in vitro and in vivo brain tumor models, and advanced bioinformatics tools.
  • Your primary task will be to investigate the tumor microenvironment in histologically distinct glioblastoma and meningioma samples using bioinformatic techniques.
  • You will also work on correlating these findings with clinical outcomes, including developing predictive models for patient prognosis.

This position offers the opportunity to develop and apply cutting-edge bioinformatics techniques to better understand brain tumors and ultimately improve patient outcomes.

About the Department/Team

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Copenhagen is one of the leading centers for neurosurgical research and education in Denmark. Our research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying brain tumors and developing new therapeutic strategies.

About the Project

This project aims to elucidate the complex interactions between brain tumor cells and their microenvironment, which play a crucial role in determining tumor aggressiveness and treatment response. You will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools and collaborate with experts in the field.

Requirements
  • M.Sc. degree in a relevant field, such as human biology, neuroimmunology, or bioinformatics.
  • Strong background in data analysis, particularly with spatial transcriptomics and single-cell/nuclei RNA sequencing.
  • Familiarity with programming languages like R or Python.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Salary and Benefits

This position comes with an estimated salary of DKK 300,000-350,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The employer will pay an additional 17.1% to your pension fund.
