Veterinary Microbiologist

Our research group, One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (OHAR), is seeking a highly qualified veterinary microbiologist to contribute to our scientific and teaching activities. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and international research environment with state-of-the-art facilities.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced veterinary microbiologist with a strong track record of independent research in veterinary bacteriology. The ideal candidate will have experience in supervising PhD, MSc and BSc students, as well as knowledge of basic concepts in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to ongoing research projects and oversee experiments conducted by PhD, MSc, and BSc students.
- Deliver lectures for the Infection Microbiology and Veterinary Paraclinics courses within the veterinary study curriculum.
- Apply for funding for research within the two focus areas of the OHAR group: diagnostic tests and methods to reduce and rationalize antimicrobial use in animals, and optimization of veterinary antimicrobial use to minimize selection and spread of antimicrobial resistance.
- A MSc degree in Veterinary Medicine.
- A PhD in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
- Outstanding publication record in relation to career stage.
- Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills.
- Experience in supervising PhD, MSc and BSc students.
- Knowledge of basic concepts in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control.

Salary and TermsThe monthly salary starts at approximately €5,168 (April 2024 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1% to your pension fund.
