Job Title: Professor in Marine Biodiversity

DTU Aqua invites applications for a position as Professor in Marine Biodiversity. The position is affiliated with the National Institute of Aquatic Resources and is based at the institute's locality in Kgs. Lyngby.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead research on community-level marine biodiversity, from plankton to mammals, with a focus on fish.
  • Investigate how biodiversity varies in space and time and how it influences the functions of marine ecosystems.
  • Describe how external pressures, including fisheries and climate change, impact biodiversity and ecosystem function.
  • Bridge fundamental research towards improvement of scientific advice regarding the impact of stressors on marine ecosystem dynamics.
Requirements:
  • Research at a high international level within marine biodiversity that crosses between classical marine ecology, statistics, and machine learning.
  • Track record in research leadership, including visionary strategic development and building up an interdisciplinary research group.
  • Proven track record in attracting external research funding and coordination of national and international initiatives within the research field.
  • Contribution to university-level teaching, including PhD students and post-doc supervision.
Working Environment:

DTU Aqua provides research, advice, innovation, and education at the highest international level within the sustainable exploitation of living marine and freshwater resources, the biology of aquatic organisms, and the dynamics of ecosystems.

DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages and in time are expected to master and teach/supervise in both.

  • Documented experience and quality of teaching and curriculum development.
  • Societal impact.
  • Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry.
  • Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills.

Salary and terms of employment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
