Chemist Investigator: Aerosol Interactions and Cloud Formation

Aarhus Universitet (AU) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the field of aerosol chemistry. The successful candidate will work on a joint project with the research groups of Merete Bilde and Tobias Weidner to investigate the role of aerosol surface chemistry in cloud formation.
The postdoc will be responsible for generating and characterizing aerosol particles under controlled laboratory conditions, using advanced instrumentation to understand the processes of particle ageing and their impact on cloud formation. Additionally, the candidate will conduct experiments to investigate the role of different environmental factors on aerosol properties and the molecular structure of water at particle and droplet surfaces.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and execute experiments to generate aerosol particles under various conditions
- Analyze data from aerosol characterization experiments using advanced instrumentation
- Collaborate with other researchers to develop sampling and interface systems for ultrafast laser spectroscopy studies
- Conduct experiments to investigate the effects of environmental factors on aerosol properties and water molecule interactions
To be eligible for this position, candidates must have a strong background in aerosol instrumentation and expertise in one or more areas such as atmospheric photochemical processes, hygroscopicity, and cloud forming potential.
Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills and be able to collaborate effectively with other researchers.
