Design Researcher Position in Human-Robot Interaction

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Design Researcher to join our team at the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies, School of Communication and Culture, Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on an exciting project focused on human-robot interaction, with a specific emphasis on developing novel robot designs that convey social cues and abilities.
About the ProjectThe ACUTE research project aims to explore minimally visible social cues as an alternative way to indicate robot sociality. We seek to develop artefact-inspired robots (AIR) that can influence the formation of social expectations and ascription of social capacities.
The project will apply a mix of qualitative research methods, including user interviews, design probes, and user studies, to inform the development of AIR concepts and prototypes.
Your RoleAs a Design Researcher, you will be responsible for conducting qualitative research, designing physical and interactive objects, and taking part in concept development, form giving, and prototyping of AIR robots. You will also conduct qualitative lab-based user evaluations with the developed concepts and prototypes.
We expect the successful applicant to have strong design and research skills, with a particular emphasis on qualitative research methods. Experience in the self-directed management of research projects, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and relevant teaching experience are also essential.
