Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark GEUS - De Nationale Geologiske Undersøgelser for Danmark og Grønland Full time

GEUS, the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, seeks a skilled postdoctoral researcher to join its research group working on environmental contaminants in groundwater. The successful candidate will be part of a new research project focusing on elucidating the origins of transformation products in Danish groundwater.

The project aims to investigate the sources of LM3, LM5, and LM6 compounds detected in recent years. Although terbuthylazine is a known source, biocidal use of terbutryn in building materials may also contribute to pollution. Through controlled laboratory studies, suspect screening, stable isotope analysis, and statistical analysis of land-use and monitoring data, the postdoc will collaborate with the project team at GEUS and international partners.

We are seeking a highly qualified individual with a PhD in Environmental Chemistry or a similar field. Relevant experience includes laboratory settings, analytical method development, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, high-resolution mass spectrometry, compound-specific isotope analysis, and experimental design for environmental pollutant fate studies.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Laboratory experience with analytical chemical methods for organic micropollutants
  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS
  • Experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry and/or compound-specific isotope analyses

The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills in English and academic writing abilities. Proficiency in Danish is not required but willingness to learn is an asset. We prioritize independence, teamwork, active participation in the scientific community, and documented research qualifications.
