The Department of History at Aarhus University seeks a postdoctoral researcher to join the "Undeutsche - racism as social practice in Medieval Prussia and Livonia" project. As a member of the team, you will work closely with the project leader and other researchers to investigate the historical development of racial concepts in Eastern Europe.

About the Project:

The project aims to study the colonial contact zones in Eastern Europe, focusing on Pomerania, Prussia, and Livonia. You will have the opportunity to analyze sources from urban administrations in the region during the 15th and 16th centuries.

Requirements:
  • PhD degree in history or a related field
  • Language skills: Latin, German, and/or a Slavic language
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

In addition to the required qualifications, we encourage applicants with experience in working with medieval manuscripts and archives, familiarity with postcolonial theories and methods, and experience in writing research grant applications.
