Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to join our team at Syddansk Universitet (SDU) in the Department of Culture and Language. The successful candidate will be part of a research project focused on the revival of traumatic pasts in contemporary German and Italian fiction and memory activism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on the reordering of the urban imaginary in Italian cities, exploring the interplay and conflict of memory discourses between diverse agents.
  • Draw on fieldwork observations and interviews to investigate the relevance of memory discourses for the debate on Italian identity.
  • Collaborate with Associate Professor Anne Folke Henningsen, Associate Professor Pia Schwarz Lausten, and PI Jessica Ortner to supervise and cooperate on the research project.
Requirements
  • PhD in Cultural Studies, Italian Studies, anthropology, ethnography, or history with a strong focus on memory studies.
  • Excellent research skills and experience in investigating urban settings.
  • Very good or near-native skills in Italian language.
