Postdoctoral Researcher in Endocrine Economies

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Department of Cultural and Language Studies at Syddansk Universitet (SDU). The successful candidate will work on a research project exploring the cultural politics of sex hormones, with a focus on transgender healthcare and the Danish cultural and institutional frameworks that inform the use of hormones in trans and queer bodies.
The project will employ qualitative and exploratory methods, including art-based methods of body mapping, to investigate the bodily experiences of hormones and the practices of micro-dosing and community imaginaries of DIY-hormones that negotiate pharmaceutical and industrial logics.
The successful applicant will have a strong background in social sciences, humanities, or a related field, and excellent research and writing skills. They will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, and to contribute to the development of the research project.
The position is available for a period of up to 18 months, starting from January 1st 2025 or as soon as possible after this date. The salary will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
