Researcher in Surveillance and Health Position

Aarhus Universitet is seeking a highly skilled researcher to join our team at the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies. The successful candidate will be part of the research project 'Human Agency and Data-Intensive Surveillance (SURVEILLANCE AGENCY)' funded by the Carlsberg Foundation.
The researcher position is a full-time and 4-year fixed-term position. The position begins on 01 January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful applicant will be expected to take part in project activities related to developing concepts and theory, data collection and analysis, and will actively collaborate closely with team members. They will be supported by the principal investigator (PI), Professor Anders Albrechtslund, and work closely with the three PhD team members.
The main tasks of the researcher will consist of:
- participating in the planning, collection and analysis of empirical data from the case studies
- contributing to the organisation of research workshops and international conferences
- supporting and facilitating team activities and collaborating with other team members
- authoring and co-authoring project outputs for peer-reviewed international journals and other relevant publications
- presenting research and participating in international meetings and conferences
- disseminating and communicating research through various outlets and outreach activities for different kinds of audiences
- contributing to the overall leadership and management of the project as co-PI and sparring partner for the PI
The researcher will also be expected to participate in the department's teaching and supervision activities and teach and supervise at BA and MA levels. The department currently offers the following degrees: Bachelor's degree programme in information studies, Master's degree programme in information studies, Bachelor's Degree Programme in Digital Design - IT, Aesthetics and Interaction and Master's Degree Programme in Digital Design.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach in English as well as Danish. The person appointed to the post of researcher must complete Aarhus University's teacher-training programme for assistant professors, which is designed for university teaching.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree or document equivalent qualifications in a relevant field related to Science, Technology and Society Studies (STS), surveillance and health research, as well as teaching and research experience equivalent to that attained through a PhD degree.
The applicant must be able to document:
- an internationally oriented research profile within STS, surveillance and health research as documented by a PhD dissertation and/or research publications
- experience in the self-directed management of research projects
- relevant teaching experience at university level as documented by a teaching portfolio (or equivalent documentation of teaching experience and qualifications) commensurate with the length of the applicant's academic career
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to engage productively both within the research team and with external organisations and institutions
It will be considered an advantage if the applicant can document a track record of research publications of a high international standard commensurate with the length of the applicant's academic career, experience of participation in national and international research networks, time spent abroad working at one or more internationally recognised research institutions, and proficiency in Danish.
