Researcher Position in Electoral Defeat Communication
2 months ago
At Aarhus Universitet (AU), we are seeking a highly skilled researcher to join our team in the Department of Political Science. The successful candidate will work on a research project focused on how party leaders explain electoral defeat and its impact on public perception.
The job entails collecting and analyzing party leader explanations across various countries, developing a typology of electoral defeat-explanations, and exploring the conditions under which different explanations are used. The researcher will also design and administer surveys and experiments to examine how the usage of prominent explanations influences partisan perceptions and citizen trust in democracy.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in political communication, elections, and trust in democracy. The project offers funding for conferences, additional training, and good opportunities for developing a strong academic network.
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in Political Science or a related field, experience with quantitative content analysis, cross-national datasets, and survey/experiment design. The applicant should have an interest in understanding political communication of election results, conducting collaborative research, and independently developing and pursuing research ideas.
The position includes teaching the equivalent of one course per year and has a competitive salary set according to the Danish pay schedule. Aarhus Universitet (AU) offers a dynamic and supportive research environment with excellent opportunities for intellectual development and mentoring.
The successful applicant will be part of a vibrant and supportive research team with an informal atmosphere. They will have the opportunity to engage in collaborative research, publish research in high-impact journals, and develop their skills in data analysis, survey/experiment design, and political communication.
Aarhus Universitet (AU) is committed to creating an inclusive and diverse work environment. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and offer a range of benefits, including relocation assistance, career counseling, and access to state-of-the-art facilities.
