Senior Electrochemist Position in Supercapacitor Research at SDU

The University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a 2-year position as senior electrochemist in the area of supercapacitors and their applications. This opportunity is located at the Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE) in Sønderborg, an international campus with students from more than 60 nationalities.
CIE is embedded in a powerhouse in electronics, featuring researchers and developers at universities and industries on both sides of the Danish-German border. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for advancing knowledge and competencies within the field of electrochemical storage device design, simulation, and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will conduct research in the field of supercapacitors, focusing on hardware design to achieve the highest power density by considering all related materials.
- You will work on simulations using finite element methods to develop digital twins of devices.
- You will contribute to building real devices and conducting functional and reliability testing.
- You will participate in planning, execution, and documentation of projects with industrial partners.
- You will supervise PhD, Master, and Bachelor students performing research on similar topics.
- You will publish and present your work at international conferences and in scientific journals with high impact.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- You have a PhD degree in physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- You have experience in supercapacitors, materials for supercapacitors, and their application.
- You have published in high-impact conferences and journals in the field of energy storage devices, reliability, and simulation.
- You are a team player with strong communication skills.
- You are interested in a longer-term commitment in a growing research group and willing to work in close cooperation with industry.
- You are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- A track record in participating in national and/or European research projects is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits: The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately DKK 500,000 - DKK 600,000, depending on qualifications and experience. You will also receive additional benefits, including access to state-of-the-art facilities and opportunities for professional growth.
