Faculty Position in Electrical Engineering
The Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) is seeking an innovative and visionary Assistant Professor for the Centre in Sønderborg. The Centre currently has 40 staff, including senior and junior academic staff, PhDs, and support staff. This is expected to grow to 50 in a few years. The financial foundation for this growth as well as for the development of new research and test laboratories in key disciplines for Industrial Electronics has been secured. On this basis, we strive for unique and excellent value in research, innovation, and education.
Research areas will be within the artificial intelligence application for the design, control, and condition and health monitoring for power electronic converters and systems. The successful application prerequisite is that you demonstrate documented expertise in most of the areas below:
- Proven research experiences in at least one of the research topics:
- Data-driven methods for condition and health monitoring of power electronic converters
- Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning implementation for power electronics application
- Hands-on experience in experiment development and testing (e.g., hardware development, software implementation in various processor platforms) is required.
- In-depth understanding of power systems and its engineering constraints is required.
- Proven records in peer-reviewed publications in the most recognized international journals.
Qualifications
The candidates must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering/Power Engineering. We also expect:
- Experience with industrial collaboration.
- A proven ability to seek out and establish academic collaborations.
- A strong track record of attracting research funding.
- Supervision experience of students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Teaching portfolio in the field of electrical engineering.
- Strong English communication skills are preferred.
Assessment and Selection Process
Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. Shortlisting may be applied. Only shortlisted candidates will receive a written assessment. Interviews and tests may be part of the process.
A panel will assess the qualification of the candidate for the described post based on the submitted material, which should include:
- Ideas for research and development activities
- A Curriculum Vitae and statement of motivation
- An account of significant contributions to the development of Electrical Engineering
- An account of significant contributions to innovation in Industrial Electronics
- An account of experience in education and outreach
- A list of publications.
The position is limited in time for 3 years.
