**About DTU Aqua and Centre for Gelatinous Plankton Ecology & Evolution**

We are a leading research institution in the field of biological oceanography, with a focus on understanding the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems. Our centre is dedicated to advancing our knowledge of gelatinous plankton and their role in the global ocean.

**Job Description**

This 3-year PhD scholarship is an exciting opportunity for a researcher to join our team and contribute to our mission. As a researcher, you will work closely with our international team to develop and apply underwater image and hydroacoustic technology to assess plankton life across different ecosystems worldwide.

**Key Responsibilities**
  • Develop and apply image equipment to assess microscopic marine life ranging from µm to several cm scales.
  • Collect new data, analyse existing data, and locate published data to assess and synthesize climate change impacts on food-webs.
  • Publish generated data, write scientific publications, and help establish an international database initiative to collect and archive marine life in a standardized form.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree within natural sciences (e.g., marine biology, oceanography, environmental engineering).
  • Experience in field work within biological oceanography (preferably plankton) and technical skills to run and modify equipment.
  • Modelling skills are an advantage.
  • Flexibility concerning field work and research stays abroad.
  • Ability to conduct research independently and with extended problem-solving skills.
  • Good collaborative skills and strong interest in participating in an inter-disciplinary and international research environment.
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and orally.

**Benefits**

As a researcher at DTU Aqua, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources. You will also have the chance to contribute to high-impact research and publish your findings in top-tier journals.

**Application Procedure**

To apply, please submit your application no later than April 1st, 2025. Your application should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, grade transcripts, and a draft project description.
