Postdoctoral Researcher in Brain Circuit Function and Neurodegenerative Diseases

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR) in Copenhagen, Denmark. As a member of the Microstructure and Plasticity Group, you will be working closely with Professor Tim B. Dyrby and his team on a 3-year project focused on brain circuit conduction velocity mapping.
The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in Neuroscience or a related field and experience working with animals, animal models, and imaging techniques such as MRI. You will also have documented practical skills in animal handling, stereotaxic surgeries, and anesthesia, as well as experience with tissue preparation for immunohistochemistry (IHC) and microscopic imaging. Additionally, you will have a strong interest in combining different imaging and functional measurements to increase the scientific impact of your project.
About the ProjectThe goal of this project is to use an MRI scanner to non-invasively map the conduction velocity of neuronal transmissions in the brain network between brain regions. This involves establishing translational animal models of neurodegenerative and demyelination diseases, using optogenetic techniques to ablate and stimulate specific neuronal populations, and measuring and analyzing the functional readout of brain stimulations using electrophysiology.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and contributing to the development of new research projects within the group. You will also be expected to present your research findings at international conferences and publish papers in leading scientific journals.

Our mission is to triangulate MR physics and basic physiology from preclinical to clinical research, with a focus on structural, functional, and metabolic MRI of the human brain and its disorders.
We offer a dynamic and multi-disciplinary research environment with access to state-of-the-art MR research infrastructure, including a pre-clinical 7T Bruker MR scanner and six whole-body MR scanners. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other researchers and clinicians within the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre.
