Remote Sensing Expert in Arctic Biogenic Volatile Compounds

Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet (KU) Full time

The Terrestrial Ecosystem Analysis group at Københavns Universitet invites applications for a postdoctoral position to work on the VILLUM-funded project "Arctic biogenic volatile compounds from above". The project aims to quantify emissions of dominant biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) in Arctic tundra using remote sensing techniques. We will develop new methods for surface classification, biodiversity assessment, photosynthesis estimates, and plant stress observations.

We are looking for a candidate with experience in remote sensing and image analysis, particularly with hyperspectral data. You should have excellent communication skills in English and be able to work independently. The successful candidate will be responsible for a project work package studying method development and applied work in image/point cloud classification and assessments of photosynthesis and BVOC emissions.

The project includes field work in Sub-Arctic Sweden and Greenland. Applicants should hold a PhD-degree in computer science, computer vision, geosciences, or similar topics. The specific direction of research will be decided in collaboration between the Postdoc candidate and the project PI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in remote sensing and image analysis
  • Develop new methods for surface classification and biodiversity assessment
  • Work on project-related tasks in collaboration with the project PI
  • Participate in field work in Sub-Arctic Sweden and Greenland
