Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet (KU) Full time

Københavns Universitet's Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management is seeking a highly skilled researcher for a postdoctoral position within the framework of the VILLUM-funded project "Arctic biogenic volatile compounds from above". The project focuses on quantifying emissions of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) in Arctic tundra using innovative remote sensing approaches.

We require a researcher with expertise in both technical and applied aspects of remote sensing and image analysis, specifically with hyperspectral data. The selected candidate will contribute to the project by developing new methods for surface classification, biodiversity assessment, photosynthesis estimation, and plant stress observation. Experience with operating unmanned aerial systems (UAS) is not necessary but would be an advantage.

The project involves close collaboration with the project principal investigator and other team members to achieve project goals. As part of this project, the postdoctoral researcher will participate in fieldwork in sub-Arctic regions of Sweden and Greenland.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in computer science, computer vision, geosciences, or similar fields
  • Experience in remote sensing and image analysis, particularly with hyperspectral data
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
