About the Job

The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) is seeking a highly skilled climate scientist to join our team in the National Center for Climate Research. As a climate scientist, you will work on climate modeling with a focus on the polar regions and the climate affecting the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute model experiments using our regional climate model (HCLIM, HARMONIE-Climate) and/or our surface mass balance model of the ice sheets.
  • Develop and maintain the model code in collaboration with colleagues at DMI and international consortia.
  • Analyze model outputs and contribute to scientific papers.
  • Participate in developing new grant applications with the group and external collaborators.

About You

  • PhD degree in climate science, meteorology, or related fields (e.g., physics or engineering).
  • Experience with climate modeling, preferably of the atmosphere or ice sheets.
  • Advanced programming skills (Linux/Unix and scripting languages e.g., Python, Fortran, etc.).
  • Research experience working with polar (Arctic and/or Antarctic) climate is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills in oral and written English.
