Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our team at the Center for Chromosome Stability (CCS) at the University of Copenhagen. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing the mechanical properties of native human chromosomes using optical tweezers and investigating the effects of manipulating enzymes that alter the mechanical properties of chromosomes in human cells.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct experiments to analyze the mechanical properties of native human chromosomes using optical tweezers
  • Analyze the effects of manipulating enzymes that alter the mechanical properties of chromosomes in human cells
  • Collaborate with other researchers in the CCS to advance our understanding of chromosome mechanics and biology
  • Present research findings at international conferences and publish research papers in reputable scientific journals
Requirements
  • PhD degree in biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, protein chemistry, or a related discipline
  • Extensive postdoctoral experience in chromosome biology or a related field
  • Significant expertise in optical manipulation of chromosomes, advanced imaging, or protein degron analysis in human cells
  • Several primary papers published in reputable scientific journals as first author
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and fluency in written and spoken English
