Marine Ecosystem Services Postdoc Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our team at Pherobase, focusing on the development of methods for monitoring and assessing biodiversity in marine restoration projects. The successful candidate will collaborate with researchers working on related topics, aiming to create a standardized framework for quantifying ecosystem services.

The postdoctoral position is part of a newly funded project: Quantification of Marine Ecosystem Services in Connection with Marine Nature Restoration (QESMAR). The overall goal is to establish a robust assessment framework that enables efficient comparison of ecosystem services across different restored habitats.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct field-based monitoring using conventional and molecular techniques to assess benthic biodiversity.
  2. Investigate various restored habitats, including seagrass meadows, kelp forests, and mussel reefs.
  3. Collaborate with the marine biodiversity monitoring group and external partners to strengthen competences in marine restoration.

Requirements:

  1. Ph.D. in marine ecology, biology, environmental sciences, or a related field.
  2. Expert knowledge of benthic ecology and biodiversity, as well as experience with marine restoration.
  3. Publications in high-ranking scientific journals demonstrating expertise in relevant areas.
  4. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
  5. Strong knowledge of English (written and oral), as well as good communication skills for interacting with the scientific community, stakeholders, and managers.
