About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join our Research and Advanced Development Division at Western Digital Capital.

This role offers a unique opportunity to transform the latest innovations into functional prototypes and support product teams in taking these designs to market.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical engineering and experience with SOC and IP design, verification, and test development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the R&D department to identify new opportunities for future products and evaluate faults or inefficiencies in existing product offerings or software solutions.
  • Develop new hardware IP to demonstrate novel solutions to identified challenges.
  • Implement solutions as complete FPGA to provide working demonstration platforms.
  • Write verification tests (using UVM) to confirm successful implementation of said solutions.
  • Interact with 3rd party vendors to deploy commercial IP as part of ASIC prototyping.
  • Debug and test prototype firmware CPU at the system level – boot, jtag, initialization sequence.
Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar fields.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when developing IP for future ASICs.
  • Excellent communication skills for working in collaborative teams or resolving technical uncertainties.
  • A strong desire to learn about new developments or applications in electrical engineering.
