About the Internship

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Emergency Unit as an intern. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in emergency management and camp coordination and management.

As an intern, you will assist our team with various tasks, including:

  • Supporting the development of global documents on CCCM activities, including case studies and guidance on best practice.
  • Assisting in the development of CCCM networking events, including training events and workshops.
  • Developing and updating the Emergency Platform website and social media, particularly our CCCM material.
  • Supporting the preparation and facilitation of emergency response and camp management trainings, both in-person and online.
  • Supporting DRC country operations with tasks such as emergency funding annual reports and new funding requests.
  • Supporting monthly administrative and financial tasks using Excel and our internal ERP system.
  • Ad-hoc administrative tasks, including supporting recruitment processes.
  • Support to the strategic initiative of 'Hard to Reach' through review of documents, inputs to policies or tools, mapping of processes or actors, etc.

We offer flexibility in the type of tasks, so you also have the possibility to influence the tasks, subject to what is relevant for your study program.

About You

To be successful in this role, we expect you to commit to the values and Code of Conduct of the Danish Refugee Council, to be able to work independently and proactively, and to handle challenges in a constructive way.

We also expect you to have an interest in and flair for communication and administrative tasks, including financial management, and to be open-minded and flexible towards the different tasks assigned to you.

All employees and interns in DRC should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence, and Demonstrating integrity.

Requirements

To apply for the internship, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Your field of study is not paramount, but it will most likely be within the social sciences and/or international affairs.
  • Confirm that you have the required permits to work and live in Denmark.
  • Have an interest in international affairs and humanitarian assistance, in particular CCCM operations.
  • Have completed a minimum of two years of higher education.
  • Be fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Have the ability to navigate in a challenging environment and handle a wide range of complex tasks.

It is a requirement that you are enrolled in a university in order to be considered for the internship.

What We Offer

We offer a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in emergency management and camp coordination and management, as well as:

  • Contract length: 4-6 months, subject to study requirements and further dialogue.
  • Start date: early February 2024. We can be flexible on the start date.
  • Working hours: Approximately 30 hours per week, subject to study requirements and further dialogue. We offer flexibility when you have study obligations next to the internship.

The internship is not paid, but we offer:

  • 2.08 (unpaid) vacation days per month. The days can either be spent as you earn them or be accumulated.
  • Free lunch in our canteen (subject to our canteen being open).
  • Free participation in our staff party (subject to dates).

Please note that if you do not have the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa), you will need to apply for it if selected for the internship. This process can take up to three months from initiating the process.
