Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet Full time

The University of Copenhagen seeks a highly motivated researcher to investigate cellular models of neurodevelopmental delay and epilepsy. This project aims to detect consequences of disease mutation on the circuit level using imaging methods, which will be amenable to drug discovery.

Research Focus

Our research group is interested in the mechanism of neurotransmitter release in chemical synapses and the molecular basis for neurodevelopmental diseases and epilepsy. We study these properties using an interdisciplinary approach, combining human induced pluripotent stem cell (hIPSC)-derived neurons or mouse neurons with microscopy, electrophysiology, and omics methods.

Job Responsibilities
  • Use live cell microscopy of in vitro neuronal populations with fluorescent reporters to identify imaging parameters that are changed by mutation.
  • Perform image analysis to detect aberrant circuit activity underlying epilepsy and neurodevelopmental delays.
Requirements
  • PhD or equivalent degree in natural or medical science.
  • Solid experience with cell culture methods and fluorescence microscopy.
  • Excellent scientific track record and communication skills.
