Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet (KU) Full time

The University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly motivated PhD fellow to join its Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management.

As a PhD fellow, you will be part of a research project focused on urban expansion and encroachment on ecologically sensitive areas in African cities. Your research will involve comparative case studies of Accra in Ghana and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, exploring the drivers and dynamics of land-use transitions in these regions.

This exciting opportunity offers you the chance to work independently and systematically, designing methodology, conducting fieldwork, and publishing scientific articles in internationally recognized journals. We are looking for a candidate with an MSc degree in geography, anthropology, sociology, political science, environmental science, or related fields, with good results. Fieldwork experience, previous publications (if any), and relevant work experience are also highly valued. A strong methodological background in qualitative research and proficiency in spoken and written English are essential requirements.
