Postdoctoral Researcher for Development of Cutting-Edge Handheld Point of Care Diagnostic System

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our multidisciplinary research team at DTU Bioengineering. The successful candidate will focus on innovative solutions with real-world applications, contributing to cutting-edge research in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Funded by Innovationsfonden Denmark, this project aims to develop a complete diagnostic solution for measuring succinic acid levels in patients experiencing acute shock. You will be working at the intersection of device development and clinical practice, collaborating closely with medical professionals and end-users to ensure the developed solution is both user-friendly, effective, and practical.
Responsibilities and Qualifications- Plan and execute the integration of advanced sensors into a point of care clinical system for clinical trials.
- Engage in both hands-on experimental work and strategic planning to drive the project forward.
- Design and develop a handheld diagnostic device for on-site measurements and processing of blood and plasma samples.
- Integrate electronics and microfluidic components to ensure robust and user-friendly operation.
- Work closely with a PhD student assigned to the project.
- Provide guidance, share expertise, and foster a collaborative research environment that promotes learning and innovation.
- Teach and supervise BSc and MSc student projects, contributing to their academic and professional growth.
- Ensure that research and innovation results are published in scientific journals, patents, and public outreach materials.
- Develop clinical user operating procedures to support the application of the technology.
- A PhD in Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of biosensor systems, including practical lab experience and a strong publication record in relevant areas.
- Experience with electrochemical sensors is advantageous but not required.
- Proficiency in liquid sample handling techniques, such as microfluidics.
- Experience with device fabrication and integration is essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A proven track record of tailoring research to address practical, real-world challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and convey complex technical information to a diverse audience.
